The First-Ever Clawhammer Banjo Sample Library
Unlike the bright, rolling sound of fingerpicked bluegrass banjo, the clawhammer technique produces a distinctly percussive and rhythmic feel, with downward strums and thumb-picked accents. This deeply expressive playing style has been a staple of folk and Appalachian music for centuries.
To authentically capture this unique technique, Evolution Clawhammer Banjo was recorded with a classic open-back folk banjo, modeled after the archetypal Whyte Laydie banjo. This sample library was developed in collaboration with Rosewood Recording Company and engineered by Guy Randle, ensuring pristine recording quality and true-to-life tonal character.
The banjo performances were played by Ryan Tilby, a multi-instrumentalist known for his work across bluegrass, folk, and cinematic music. His virtuosic touch brings life to each articulation, from traditional clawhammer strokes to fingerstyle rolls and harmonics.
Powered by the Evolution engine, this instrument offers built-in clawhammer rhythm patterns, customizable effects, and a deep articulation system, making it an indispensable tool for composers, producers, and folk musicians.
