The library captures the grandeur and beauty of a symphonic string section, recorded with 60 musicians: 16 first violins, 14 second violins, 12 violas, 10 cellos, and 8 basses. These players are handpicked from the finest orchestras in London, ensuring top-tier talent for your compositions. The strings are recorded at the legendary Air Studios, known for its world-class acoustics, and digitally captured at 96kHz using high-end equipment, including a Studer tape machine, Neve pre-amps, and ribbon mics.
48 Evolving Articulations (EvOs)
The 48 EvOs (evolving string articulations) are the heart of this library, offering dynamic and gradual transitions across different string techniques. Each Evo evolves over time, changing in tone, timbre, and intensity as you move through the performance. These EvOs range from traditional string movements like vibrato and tremolos to more experimental textures like harmonics, pulsing bows, and whispers. This flexibility allows for organic, flowing compositions that are perfect for both traditional orchestral scores and contemporary sound design.
Evo Grid – Instant Inspiration
The Evo Grid interface is the tool that makes this library stand out. Inspired by the EMS VCS3 synth, this unique GUI allows you to quickly experiment with different EvOs. Each Evo is mapped across the keyboard and can be triggered based on its pitch range. The Evo Grid lets you activate, mix, and layer different EvOs in an intuitive and tactile way, making it easy to discover and create dynamic, evolving textures. You can even randomize EvOs using the “dice function” to generate a seemingly infinite variety of combinations, perfect for creating surprising and fresh string sounds.
